10 Questions with Carlos Pinheiro

How long have you worked at LFT?

I joined LAKE FUSION Technologies just over a year ago.

How did you first learn about LFT?

I first heard about LFT as a company, that performs sensor-based environment perception. This topic is interesting for me, as it is relatively similar to what I had actually worked on previously.

What do you like most about your job as perception engineer for ADAS?

When working on such topics it is necessary not only to understand and implement the state-of-the-art methods that have been proven to work, it is sometimes also needed to take it a step further, with additional improvements customized for the specific problems we face. To make such novel contributions and see them working, is for me, one of the most satisfying aspects of this job.

What are you currently working on?

Currently I am busy with research, development and testing of a Multiple-Object Tracking system. This also requires additional cooperation for improvements on other modules such as clustering and classification.

What are 3 words you would use to describe LFT?

Dynamic, up-to-date, creative.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I am living and working in a nature blessed region of Germany next to Switzerland and Austrian borders. I often find myself in outdoor activities, such as: hiking, mountain-biking and swimming.

What places have you lived in?

I was born in Brazil, I spent part of my childhood in California, USA, lived a couple of years in Brussels and finally, since a few years, I am living in Germany.

What one food do you wish had zero calories?

None, since anything with zero calories must taste like… Nothing.

What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with LFT?

To establish our recognition through demonstrated quality of work and competence is definitively high on this list.

What advice do you have for prospective LFT candidates?

In my view, the most important thing is demonstrated motivation by previous involvement in projects or work related to what the company does, even if it is an university project, it definitively counts!
