10 Questions with Christoph Ulrich

When did you join LFT?

November 2021.

What do you do at LFT?

As a software engineer, I test and transfer prototypes of algorithms, which have been developed by my algorithm engineering colleagues, to maximize the efficiency of the end-user software and to stable it.

What is special about working for LFT?

First of all, I have a lot of competent colleagues from diverse backgrounds from whom I can learn a lot. I also like the “startup atmosphere” (which will hopefully remain for some time), meaning small teams, flat hierarchy, and fast development cycles.

What would you do (for a career) if you were not doing this?

Forest ranger, landscape gardener or industrial climber.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within LFT, whose job would you want?

As I am not only interested in the technical stuff I am doing at LFT, but also in a variety of business activities within a company, I would sometimes like to switch job with Maria Boos, the executive assistant / marketing manager, because it seems like she has a broad variety of tasks in different topics regarding the company.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Some months ago, I started to learn playing the alto saxophone. Apart from this, I like to do a variety of sports: tennis, running, mountain biking, via ferrata, outdoor workouts.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Lip reading.

What is a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I can’t fall asleep unless the handle of the window I look at when I lie in bed is (almost) perfectly parallelly aligned to the window frame.

If you could choose anyone in the world, who would you pick as your mentor?

Hard to choose. Probably Yoda, the pillar of galactic wisdom.

What one food do you wish had zero calories?

Lasagne. Especially the one my girlfriend makes.
